A seminar titled "Better Cash Flow Management Through Factoring" specially for the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) was organised jointly by the Dhaka Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and South Asia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) at the DCCI Auditorium in the city recently, says a press release.
Sudarshan Senaratne, Factoring Specialist, SEDF presented keynote paper in the seminar. DCCI President MA Momen and Knowledge Centre Coordinator Afifa Raihana, SEDF were present on the occasion.
Mr. Senaratne in his keynote paper informed the seminar that factoring has gained popularity as a useful financial service worldwide, which helps businesses, specially SME's to grow.
He pointed out that inability to offer fixed assets as collateral to raise finance from traditional sources such as banks often restricts SME's borrowing capacity where factoring enables SME's to overcome this obstacle since it allows a business to raise funds in proportion to sales. Several factoring companies across Europe, North America and Asia have introduced this service, which is facilitating the buyers and sellers of these countries to conduct international trade, he said.
