A 14-member visiting high-powered Pakistani delegation here yesterday laid emphasis on an effective and pioneering role of the private sector for boosting bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
They proposed for making investment in potential textile sector in Bangladesh and introducing direct movement of vessels between Bangladesh and Pakistan for the benefit of bilateral trade between the two countries.
The visiting Pakistan delegation led by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Harun Faruqui exchanged views with Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the CCCI auditorium.
The Pak delegation leader said the investment in the textile sector under either single or joint venture could help both the countries reap the benefits.
Referring to the Bangladesh-Pakistan Shipping Protocol signed back in 1974 the Karachi apex trade body chief observed that in view of the changed scenario of the global trade the protocol required to be amended for introducing a direct shipping link between the two countries.
Harun Faruqui underscored the need for exchange of trade delegations between the two countries and invited the CCCI team to participate in a trade fair to be held in Karachi next month.
