President Zillur Rahman on Monday urged Indonesia to import various goods, including world-class pharma-ceutical products, jute goods, halal meat and readymade garments, from Bangladesh.
The President made the request when newly appointed Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Zet Mirzal Zainuddin presented his credentials to him at Bangabhaban.
Mentioning that the trade volume between the two countries has increased substantially in recent years, President Zillur said there is ample of scope to increase it further.
Welcoming the new envoy, the President said Bangladesh is a peace-loving country and always maintains its position against terrorism.
Zillur expressed satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relations between the two countries which are deeply rooted in common history and culture. He said Bangladesh and Indonesia share similar views on regional and international issues and work closely for mutual interests in international forums.
The President urged the Indonesian investors to invest in Bangladesh as a very congenial and investment friendly atmosphere is prevailing here.
He mentioned that both the countries can be benefited through exchange of programmes in education sector.
Zillur, trough the envoy, invited his Indonesian counterpart to visit Bangladesh at his convenient time.
The new Ambassador sought cooperation from the President in discharging his duties. Zainuddin praised the people of Bangladesh as they are peace loving, courageous and hard working. He hoped Bangladesh would attain rapid economic progress with the advancement of the country's democratic practice.
Secretary to the President's Office Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Military Secretary to the President Maj Gen Md Ehtesham Ul Haque, Additional Foreign Secretary MAK Mahmud and President's Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present on the occasion.
